It is time once again to renew your membership with the Apex Property Owners Association. The cost remains at $25. per property. The money collected from the yearly fee helps us to be active in the many issues facing us as property owners. It helps pay for mailouts and this web page. It covers the cost of meeting room rentals, insurance, etc. By becoming invloved in your community you help to make it a better place to work, play, live and have fun.
We are having our 3rd Annual Appie Crawl and Membership Earlybird Drive. This year it is on Jan.7/06. We are starting at the Fresh Tracks Cafe and Catering which was formerly the Hog on the Hill. Nikki will treat us to some of her fine cooking. She is able to get a special events license to serve alcoholic beverages. We are starting there between 5 and 530. We will be there until 7pm when we head to the Gunbarrel Saloon to see what Colin has in store for our taste buds. We will be there until 830 at which time we will be going over to the 3:30 Grill for more Appies as well as some desserts. This is a change from what the newsletter said as we were thinking of just desserts at the 3:30 Grill, but I gave my head a shake and remembered back to last years Social and what an amazing spread they put on for us. We will also be having the prize draws at the 3:30 Grill. All memberships that are paid on or before the 7th of January are entered into the draws. You don’t have to be there to win a prize, but you want to be there because we have a ton of fun! The cost for this Social is $20.You just pay at the Fresh Tracks. We will be there to collect the money for the Social and the Memberships Fees. I hope to see you there! If this isn’t super clear and you have any questions, you can call me, Cindi Lou @ 292-8353.

This past weekend the T-bar was open for the skiing public. It had snowed all day Friday and really wasn’t too bad! The racers and freestylers have been doing their early season training for a couple of weeks now. The mountain is now closed to the public until the weekend. As I am writing, it is puking out!! Let it snow! If this keeps up, Saturday could be epic!
This Friday, Dec. 2nd is the second annual Season Opening Social, put on by the Apex Ski Club. It is a dinner and silent auction, held at the Gunbarrel Saloon. They also have an entertainer this year. The money raised will go directly to the young atheletes that are going to put Apex on the map. Some already have. The tickets are $30.00 and can be purchased at the Saddleback Lodge, the Apex Ski Shop and from a couple of parents whose number I don’t have in front of me. ( sorry ) I am sure that they will be available at the door as well. The doors open at 6pm with the dinner starting at 7pm. So, come oout, have fun and help support Apex’s young atheletes!!

Summer is in full swing at Apex! This past couple of weeks has been gorgeous. The temperature is super comfortable in the low 20’s, yet sunny and hot in the direct sun. It’s a great thing to escape the heat of the valley and just one of the many attributes Apex has. This year the flowers are particularly beautiful and more abundant than I ever remember. The chair lift is operating on the weekends and holidays. It’s wonderful to see the locals and tourists alike coming up to take in this lifestyle we are so fortunate to enjoy.
On August 13th is our Annual Summer Social. In the past we have held it on the Labour Day Weekend but thought we would try it earlier. I know that this is a busy time for most of us with so much going on. If you don’t have plans, why not come up and enjoy the mountain air, a barbque and the company of other property owners. It is happening at the Gunbarrel Saloon at noonish. Colin always gives us a deal. There are beef, chicken and veggie burgers and all ages welcome!!
We also tried to plan a yard sale day at Apex for the same date. So far there are not many committed to having a yard sale, but this could change in the next several days, so check here for updates. There will definately be one at 1178 Apex Mountain Road, aka Camp Cuervo. Come and check out the cool stuff at screamin’ deals. Collectables, outdoor gear, housewares and who knows what else. Something for everyone. If there are any property owners reading this that would also like to have a sale on this day, give me a call at 250-292-8353 and I will include your address in the advertising.
Also on Aug. 13th is the Peoples Race. CAll the hostel at 250-292-8256 for more info. Thanks for your interest and I hope to see you at the social!

Well, almost two months have passed since the season ended. The APOA continue to meet regularily to keep the momentum on such issues as the Official Community Plan and the Fire Department Planning. We are overdue on a newsletter but look for it in the next month as I gather the information from the various committees. Sorry for the delay!
These days I have alot of people who ask me if there is any snow left on the mountain. The answer is YES! We are just starting to see brown spots. The northside especially has not lost alot of snow. The sledders are out in great numbers every weekend. The nights are cool, dipping below freezing. There is still hope for the watershed.
The next event for the Apex Property Owners is the Summer Social which is planned for Aug. 13/05. There will be a luncheon barbque at the Gunbarrel Saloon. There is also the People’s Race planned for that day. See Steve at the Double Diamond Hostel for more info on the race. Check this site for more info on the social as it gets closer. We have also talked about the idea of a community yard sale, but haven’t worked out the logistics. Any feedback for that idea is welcome.
In closing, have a great spring! See you in the summer!

The APOA AGM was held on Feb. 12/05 in the Apex Mountain Inn. The meeting room was standing room only. There were written reports from all committees for the reading pleasure of those in attendance. We also had Bill Schwarz available to speak to various issues. Jeff Plant spoke on behalf of Apex Mountain. Barb Davis was able to keep the meeting to the time lines set out in the agenda. Brian Dorward spoke re:fire protection issue. We will keep you posted as to when a referendum will be held on this. Cindi Lou Baker spoke to upcoming social events on the mountain. There are still unclaimed prizes from the earlybird draw held at the social in Jan. Another pertinent issue raised from the floor is the “ski-in=ski=out” access to the proerties served by the Strayhorse Trail, in this case, specifically the Creekview Court Strata Properties. A solution is being sought that will be acceptable to those affected. The meeting was adjourned at 5pm.

As I sit at my desk writing my first report to you as President of the APOA, the sun is shining and the snow is beckoning me to dust off the snowshoes, tune up the skis and wish that I had spent more time getting in shape! We are all looking forward to another great winter season at our favorite mountain.
Your APOA board members have been busy volunteering their time to help with many different projects, and we are all felling lucky to have Toni getting and keeping (!) us organized and focused. We have formed several committees to deal with the many issues at hand and great progress is being made. I have to thank all the board member for all their energy, enthusiasm and resourcefulness. I have been caught up in their great community spirit, and the desire to help create a well rounded, vibrant mountain community that will support all sports, seasons, ages and interests. On that note, we would greatly appreciate any help from non board members; join a committee, voice your opinion, help organize a party, encourage more memberships!
On behalf of the APOA, I would like to extend our condolences to the Penticton Indian Band for the tragic events of October 30th.
PLEASE remember to DRIVE SLOWLY and carefully through the Penticton Indian Band’s Reserve, especially the village! The tribal police have been policing Green Mtn Road and are unhappy with the number of speeders and accidents. A notice from GM Jeff Plant can be found on the web site. Please also remember to watch your speed as you drive through the residential area of Apex!

Hi everybody! Just a quick update as we wait and pray for the BIG Dump! We did have a good amount of snow Thursday morning when we woke up. Enough to get excited about and get the cross country good again. The mountain has been working hard to get snow made to accomodate the camps who are here for early season training.
The next newsletter is soon to be mailed out by the RDOS as there is important info regarding the fire protection issue and that info needs to reach all property owners and not just the ones who support this association. As we are not able to access that mailing list, the RDOS will kindly forward this info for us. This has postponed the mailout as we wait for approval of the content of the newsletter. We are hoping that future newsletters will also be on this site for your reading pleasure.
Yesterday I recieved an invitation to a fundraiser for the Apex Ski Club. It will be held at the Gunbarrel on Dec. 3/04. It starts at 7pm and it is a Dinner and Goods and Services Auction. Tickets are $30.00. Everyone’s welcome to come out and support Apexes young atheletes. I am sorry but I don’t have the contact numbers in front of me.
That is all for now. Expect your next newsletter in the mail before the end of the month. We are starting our membership drive for 2005 memberships. If you have a new neighbour, be sure to let them know about us. Give them an opportunity to get involved in this unique community! See you soon in the lift lines. It won’t be long now! Pray for snow!
